Compensation: $140,000 - $190,000 (Base Salary)

Purpose of the Role

A highly respected, full-service law firm is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney to join their premier Elder Law and Trusts & Estates Practice Group.

This role is primarily based in Fairfield County, CT, with the flexibility to spend time in the firm's Essex County, NJ office as needed.

It is an ideal opportunity for a mid- to senior-level attorney to manage sophisticated estate settlements and planning matters across both Connecticut and New York.

The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical tax knowledge and compassionate client guidance, working closely with senior partners while collaborating with a high-performing team of support staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Estate Planning: Draft, review, and implement comprehensive plans, including wills and complex trust structures (revocable and irrevocable).

• Administration: Lead estate and trust administration, including accountings and the preparation of estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax returns.

• Strategic Advisory: Research and advise on asset preservation and tax impact strategies.

• Litigation Support: Assist with probate and estate-related litigation, including contested wills and fiduciary disputes, as needed.

• Collaboration: Partner with commercial or tax attorneys on LLC operating agreements and shareholder agreements.

• Performance: Maintain accurate case records and meet a 1,800 billable hour annual target.

Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years of relevant legal experience, specifically in trusts, estates, and elder law.

• Bar Admissions: Must be admitted to practice and in good standing in both Connecticut and New York.

• Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited school; LLM is strongly preferred.

• Technical Skills: Deep familiarity with federal/state tax laws and trust administration procedures.

• Mobility: Ability to work primarily from the Fairfield County, CT office with occasional travel to the Essex County, NJ office.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $140,000 – $190,000 annually (Base), plus eligibility for origination credits.
